‘Yellowstone’ Cast Tightens Security for Episodes Without Kevin Costner: “Redacted Scripts” and “Extreme Confidentiality”
A new behind-the-scenes featurette for “Yellowstone” highlights the heightened security measures on set, suggesting that actors risked being sent to the “train station” if they leaked any secrets.
The intense clip intersperses show footage with interviews from the cast and crew about the eagerly awaited second half of the fifth season, set to premiere on the Paramount Network on November 10. These episodes will notably be the first without series star Kevin Costner, who reportedly stepped back due to slow script production and his commitments to the “Horizon” film series.
The promo begins with lighthearted moments on set, featuring Cole Hauser, who plays Rip, expressing, “This year, there were fun times on set. This is the greatest office in the world.” Kelly Reilly, who portrays Beth, adds, “We’ve just been shooting, and I feel so grateful. There’s a lot of laughter on our set.”
The tone shifts as the conversation turns serious regarding script security. With speculation swirling about how Costner’s character will be written off, the production team is clearly eager to maintain confidentiality until the episodes air.
Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica, remarks, “This season has been very secretive.” Director Christina Voros notes in voiceover, “There was a lot of security around the script and the narrative,” while Jennifer Landon, who plays Teeter, shares, “We get these redacted scripts. Basically everything is blacked out except for your lines.” Voros further emphasizes the challenge: “It’s a huge testament to the crew’s adaptability, as they’ve learned to navigate new challenges to protect the story for the audience.”
Among the new footage, a particularly striking image features Beth looking despondent, hinting that the storyline may not bode well for Costner’s character, John. Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce, reinforces the emotional impact, concluding the footage by saying, “The show brought me to tears.”
