“‘Yellowstone’ Could Proceed with New Lead Actor If Kevin Costner Leaves for Next Season”

“Yellowstone” May Continue After Season Five

Negotiations for a sixth season of Paramount’s hit Western series “Yellowstone” are currently underway, according to Deadline. While no agreements have been finalized, it is expected that Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly will remain in leading roles.

Kevin Costner, who will not appear in the second half of season five set to premiere on November 10, has been a focal point in recent discussions. The actor expressed disappointment over how “Yellowstone” managed exit rumors amidst ongoing drama related to his divorce from Christine Baumgartner.

Costner confirmed that he was presented with an offer to return for season six but faced complications. “We did negotiate,” he said. “There were issues about creative. I tried to break the logjam. They walked away.” Costner had concerns about the filming schedule, as it conflicted with his commitment to his new project, “Horizon.”

Costner was reportedly offered $24 million to continue with “Yellowstone” for seasons five, six, and seven. However, scheduling conflicts with “Horizon” led to the breakdown of these negotiations and the potential cancellation of the show.

Meanwhile, Hauser has hinted at the possibility of a spinoff focusing on his character, Rip Wheeler, and Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton. “I’m excited to see where [creator Taylor Sheridan] goes creatively,” Hauser told Country Living. “But right now, it’s just: Let’s finish strong; let’s do the best we can.”
