“Yellowstone: John Dutton Rides Off into the Sunset”
There are countless ways to meet an untimely end in the West, and John Dutton is facing a few thousand of them.
On Tuesday, Paramount Network unveiled the official trailer for the second half of “Yellowstone” Season 5, marking the final stretch of the series. Set to premiere on Sunday, November 10 at 8/7c, this much-anticipated segment is a must-watch for fans—especially considering the uncertainty surrounding Kevin Costner’s future on the show. Following a tumultuous falling out with co-creator Taylor Sheridan, characterized by scheduling conflicts and legal threats, the situation has become as complicated as the drama on-screen. As Costner himself noted in a June 2024 post on X (formerly Twitter), he will not be returning for Season 5-B, stating, “It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning.”
However, as long as John Dutton is around, he’s determined to stand his ground.
“Everyone’s forgotten who runs this valley,” he asserts at the start of the trailer. “Time to remind them.”
“Yellowstone” chronicles the Dutton family, led by patriarch John, who oversees the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. While the ranch is expansive, it has boundaries, and those beyond its fences—including a growing town, a Native American reservation, and America’s first national park—pose significant conflicts.
