“‘Yellowstone’ Plans for Season 6 with Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser”

Taylor Sheridan’s popular series Yellowstone may not be wrapping up with Season 5 after all. Deadline has confirmed that discussions are currently underway for a sixth season of the flagship drama, featuring standout stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.

Sources indicate that while the deals are not yet finalized, there is a strong intention to extend Yellowstone beyond Season 5B, which is anticipated to be the final chapter for Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton. Costner has confirmed he will not appear in the upcoming episodes.

Season 5B was initially billed as the series’ concluding segment, but the teaser released in June did not label the new episodes as the final installment of the saga. Reilly and Hauser had been negotiating new contracts for months, with initial speculation suggesting they were for a Yellowstone spinoff. The franchise’s first contemporary spinoff, The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, is scheduled to premiere following Season 5B.

Yellowstone explores the Dutton family’s struggle to manage the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States, amidst shifting alliances, unresolved mysteries, and ongoing conflicts with neighboring entities including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Reilly portrays Beth Dutton, the daughter of John Dutton, who previously worked as the head of acquisitions at Schwartz & Meyer financial firm. Hauser plays Rip Wheeler, the seasoned ranch foreman who, as a young boy, sought refuge with John Dutton after killing his stepfather to protect his mother. John took him in, treating him like a son and teaching him the ways of the cowboy.

The series is executive produced by Sheridan, Costner, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox. Distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution, Yellowstone is a Paramount Network series.

The potential for a Season 6 was first reported by Puck.
