‘Yellowstone’ Star Kevin Costner Meets Cher at ‘SNL 50’ After Complimenting Her

At the “SNL 50” anniversary special on Sunday, Cher found herself seated between her boyfriend, Alexander Edwards, and an unexpected new admirer—Kevin Costner.
Just two nights earlier, Costner, 70, was visibly moved by Cher’s performance at “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.” As Cher, 78, belted out her iconic hit “If I Can Turn Back Time” at Radio City Music Hall, the “Yellowstone” star was caught standing up and clutching his head in awe.
A fan on Instagram captured the moment perfectly, writing, “Kevin Costner .. was feeling it,” referring to his heartfelt reaction to Cher’s performance.
Then, on Sunday night, Cher and Costner sat side-by-side among a star-studded crowd at Studio 8H in New York City for NBC’s “SNL” 50th anniversary special. Costner looked sharp in a black suit, while Cher dazzled in a glittery dress paired with a black jacket. On her other side was Edwards, her younger boyfriend.
Behind them sat “SNL” alum Rob Schneider, who joked on Twitter about the height of Cher’s signature hairdo. “Cher’s hair is blocking my view… I can’t see SH#T! #SNL50,” he quipped.
Cher arrived at the event with Edwards, 39, whom she’s been dating since 2022. Their age gap of 40 years hasn’t slowed their romance. Cher revealed they met at Paris Fashion Week, unexpectedly struck up a conversation thanks to a friend’s nudge.
“I was looking at this handsome guy with white hair, tattoos, and great teeth,” she recalled. “I said, ‘Dude, I like your grill.’ He responded, ‘No, they’re my teeth.’ So, we just started talking.”
Despite her initial skepticism, Cher admitted she warned Edwards, “‘Dude, this isn’t going to work. It’s just not going to go well.’” But Edwards wasn’t deterred, and soon enough, they became a couple.
Meanwhile, Costner finalized his divorce from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner in 2023, ending nearly two decades of marriage and a contentious split. They share three children, with Costner having seven kids in total. As part of the settlement, Costner was ordered to pay $63,209 per month in child support.
Since the divorce, Baumgartner, 50, has gotten engaged to one of Costner’s former friends, adding another twist to the story.
