“Yellowstone Teaser Hints at Trouble for Kevin Costner’s John Dutton”

We’re at a crossroads for Taylor Sheridan and John Linson’s Yellowstone. The hit Paramount Network series is set to launch its final chapters on November 10th – or so it seems. Recent reports suggest that Season 6 might be in the works, with Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) reportedly negotiating to lead the new season. Regardless of what unfolds, one thing is clear: viewers are eager to learn the fate of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton. A recently released mini-teaser, which reflects on the show’s past, hints that John’s future may be in jeopardy.

Here’s a look at the latest teaser for what could be the final episodes of Yellowstone, set to return to Paramount Network on November 10th:

Kevin Costner’s Perspective on Yellowstone

In a recent interview for GQ’s Summer Issue promoting his film Horizon: An American Saga, Costner addressed the disruptions in Yellowstone‘s production schedule as a major reason for his absence. Costner explained that the frequent delays and changes conflicted with his ability to work on his film. “We very rarely started or finished on time,” Costner said, attributing some of the delays to the pandemic and the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes. “I was OK with that, but it wasn’t something I could continue with,” he added. Costner even offered to film a death scene before starting on Horizon if that was the direction Sheridan and the team were taking. However, he noted that the scripts never materialized. “I offered to come in a week before I started filming Horizon to shoot a death scene if that was the route they were going. The scripts never came. And so then, at one point, they said we don’t have an ending or anything,” Costner shared with GQ.

Paramount Network responded to Costner’s remarks, stating: “Kevin has been a significant part of Yellowstone‘s success. While we hoped to continue working with him, we could not align our production schedule with his availability. We respect Kevin’s decision to prioritize his new film series and wish him the best.”

In June, Costner announced his departure from the series with a caption reading, “An update for you guys. I’ll see you at the movies.” He explained, “After a long year and a half of working on Horizon and reflecting on Yellowstone, I realized that I won’t be able to continue with Season 5B or beyond. It was an experience that profoundly impacted me, and I’m grateful for the love we shared for the series. I won’t be returning, but I value the relationship we developed, and I’ll see you at the movies.”
