“Concerns Rise About Blue Bloods Finale Following CBS Update”

CBS’ recent update on Blue Bloods has left me worried about the series finale. After 14 years, it’s heartbreaking to see the popular police and family drama coming to an end, especially since it still draws impressive ratings. The Reagan family has always been the heart of the show, elevating it beyond a typical police procedural. As Blue Bloods nears its final episodes, season 14 has showcased the deep family drama and ethical dilemmas that made the series so compelling. However, with only a few episodes left, it feels like there hasn’t been much attention paid to the bigger storylines.

For example, Jamie and Eddie’s decision to start a family, which was a major plot point earlier in the season, hasn’t been revisited since episode 11 of season 14. Meanwhile, Danny and Baez’s potential romance has barely progressed. Instead, each episode has focused primarily on the cases of the week, with a few hints of personal conflict, like Frank’s frustration with Mayor Chase for hiring a problematic ex-cop for a security position. This could potentially tie into the finale, but there’s still a lot left unanswered.

CBS recently released the premise for the final episodes, and honestly, it feels like the show is coasting towards the finish line. Episode 17 sounds like another standard installment, with Eddie and Badillo helping a man evict a squatter, while Danny and Baez investigate a suspicious death in a college dorm. These storylines don’t offer much in terms of set-up for the finale, which is supposed to see the Reagan family fighting to protect the city from chaos when the gangs of New York join forces and demand the release of their imprisoned members.

Having covered many series finales, I’ve learned that the worst ones are those that feel like just another episode, with little to distinguish them as the grand conclusion. While it’s possible Blue Bloods has some surprises in store, right now, it seems the show is simply sticking to its usual formula until the very end. A show with such a loyal fan base and a 14-year run deserves a finale that feels more significant and memorable, not just a rushed wrap-up in the final moments.
