“After Blue Bloods, Tom Selleck’s Next Character Choice Revealed”

I’m still grappling with the idea of “when Blue Bloods ends,” though the reality seems to be approaching sooner than I’d like. CBS has confirmed that Blue Bloods won’t be revived like S.W.A.T., despite Tom Selleck’s efforts to save the show and another batch of episodes coming up. Selleck, while hopeful CBS might reconsider, is also looking ahead to future projects. He has expressed interest in revisiting the role of Jesse Stone if the show concludes.

In a recent interview promoting his book, Selleck mentioned that, if Blue Bloods does end, he’d love to make another Jesse Stone movie. It’s been nearly a decade since the last one, and Selleck, who also wrote some of the original scripts, has hinted he’s got more ideas for the character.

The Jesse Stone TV movie series, which ran from 2005 to 2015, remains a strong example of engaging murder mysteries, reminiscent of Poirot or Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden. Selleck’s continued work post-Blue Bloods, driven partly by his avocado ranch and its expenses, remains a priority for him.

Reports about Blue Bloods’ cancellation have varied, from budget cuts to CBS’s desire to clear space for new shows like NCIS spinoffs and Kathy Bates’ Matlock revival. Despite this, Selleck has pointed out that the show’s strong ratings on Friday nights, even into Season 14, suggest the show’s success.
