Kevin Costner to Receive Eva Monley Award at 12th Annual LMGI Awards

Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner will be honored with the prestigious Eva Monley Award at the 12th Annual Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards, taking place on August 23 at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage.

With a celebrated career spanning decades, Costner is known for his performances in iconic films such as Dances with Wolves, The Bodyguard, Field of Dreams, Yellowstone, and most recently, Horizon: An American Saga. He has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, and a Primetime Emmy.

“Kevin Costner has long understood that locations are more than scenery—they are storytelling tools that shape the emotional and visual language of a film,” said LMGI President John Rakich. “His commitment to authenticity and his deep respect for the craft make him a perfect recipient of the Eva Monley Award.”

The Eva Monley Award is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to filmmaking through their use of real-world locations. Past honorees include renowned directors such as Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Wes Anderson, and Danny Boyle.

Also being recognized this year is veteran location manager Ilt Jones, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on major films including The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Iron Man 3.

The 12th Annual LMGI Awards will also present honors across various categories, including Contemporary Film, Period Film, Contemporary TV, Period TV, Television Anthology/MOW/Limited Series, Commercials, and Film Commissions. Additional honorary awards include the Humanitarian, Lifetime Achievement, Trailblazer, and Eva Monley Awards.

In industry news, post-production company Goldcrest Post has strengthened its picture finishing team with three key hires: senior colorists Andrew Geary and Anthony Raffaele, along with senior vice president J. Eric Camp. Camp, formerly of Light Iron, will lead picture operations and business development at Goldcrest. Managing director Domenic Rom stated the new additions mark “a defining moment” for the company, highlighting their shared dedication to excellence in post-production.

In animation, David, a new musical adventure film based on the biblical story of David and Goliath, is in the works. Directed by Phil Cunningham and Brent Dawes, the film features the voice of Phil Wickham as David and was developed by Slingshot with animation by Sunrise Animation Studios. David marks Slingshot’s debut feature, with 5&2 Studios handling global distribution and marketing. Aiming for a 2025 worldwide release, the film’s producers include Rita Mbanga, Steve Pegram, and Tim Keller.
