“Tom Selleck, 79, Looks Different Yet Charming at NYC Q&A for Canceled ‘Blue Bloods'”

Tom Selleck, 79, in High Spirits at Q&A for Canceled ‘Blue Bloods’

Tom Selleck was all smiles as he attended a Q&A session for his show Blue Bloods, following the announcement of its cancellation. The beloved actor, who portrayed NYC Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, expressed his disappointment with CBS’s decision not to renew the hit cop drama, which is set to conclude this fall.

Recently, Selleck has reportedly moved back to his California home with wife Jillie Mack, 66, after spending 14 years commuting from the West Coast to film the series.

At the 2024 PaleyFest, Tom showcased his bushy gray beard and cut a dapper figure in a black suit and tie, complemented by a crisp white shirt and comfortable trainers. Last month, he appeared quite different from his 80s heyday, sporting a casual look during an outing in Thousand Oaks, California.

Fans expressed concern for the actor after he was spotted leaving a gym with noticeable vertical scars on both knees, leading to speculation about possible recent surgery. This could explain his apparent difficulty walking back to his car, as seen in footage obtained by In Touch Weekly. While Tom has not publicly commented on undergoing knee surgery, his representative previously denied reports of a ‘secret medical crisis’ that would require a stunt double while filming Blue Bloods.

Despite rumors of health issues, his rep has maintained that Tom is in “excellent health.” Following the show’s cancellation, Selleck did not hold back his disappointment, stating he hoped CBS would “come to their senses.” While filming has wrapped, fans can still look forward to the conclusion of the 14th and final season airing in October.

Selleck has garnered a loyal fanbase through his portrayal of Frank Reagan since the show’s debut in September 2010, working alongside co-stars Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, and Will Estes. He anticipates that fans will react strongly to the show’s end, noting that CBS might be surprised by the level of interest in Blue Bloods. “The show’s more popular than ever,” he remarked, adding, “We’re certainly not out of ideas.”
