“Why Was Kevin Costner at ‘SNL50’? Fans Are Still Wondering”
Kevin Costner’s Wild Weekend: From Cher to SNL50 with Jenna Ortega
Kevin Costner is having quite the public renaissance. Over the past few weeks, the 70-year-old actor has seemingly been everywhere. Earlier this month, he was spotted at the Super Bowl with Pete Davidson. Then he showed up—nine photos deep—in Livvy Dunne’s Instagram dump alongside her boyfriend, MLB pitcher Paul Skenes. And just this past weekend, there he was again, sitting between Cher and Jenna Ortega at the SNL50 anniversary show.
Can you blame the man for living his best life?
Social media has been buzzing about his sudden omnipresence. Fans couldn’t help but fixate on his straight-faced reaction to Cher belting out “If I Could Turn Back Time.” Later in the night, Costner’s expression during a Blake Lively–Justin Baldoni joke had much more going on. The former Yellowstone star isn’t exactly known for hamming it up—but lately, his reactions have been their own spectacle.
The media’s noticed, too. Page Six even tried to brand his unlikely friendship with Pete Davidson as “Pevin.” (Please, let’s not.)
But the biggest mystery of the night? How on earth Costner ended up sandwiched between Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte, and Jenna Ortega during a sketch that spilled from the stage into the celebrity crowd. Sudeikis and Forte leaned in for a chaotic comedic kiss—awkwardly pressing Costner and Ortega together in the process. Neither looked particularly thrilled, but it’s unclear whether they were just playing along or genuinely blindsided by the bit.
Costner rarely speaks to the press, but if he’s looking for a break from the madness, I’m available. Just saying. Hang out with someone a little less online. You’ve earned it, Kevin.
